It has been a heart-wrenching 16 months for the Pelletier family, but now, with the Department of Children and Families’ (DCF) long overdue motion and Judge Johnston’s eventual dismissal of the child-protection case, Justina Pelletier is free at last!

Three weeks ago, MFI’s Andrew Beckwith stood amongst the hundreds of people who rallied on the steps of the State House to celebrate Justina’s 16th birthday and to call on our state government to free her.  We are very pleased to tell you that this Wednesday she was finally reunited with her family.”I’m so happy. I’m so excited,” Justina was quoted as saying by the Boston Globe. “It’s such big news.”

Before DCF’s motion was filed, Justina had begged Judge Johnston and Governor Patrick to “Please let me go home!”

Now that officials have finally responded to her heartfelt plea and the DCF nightmare is over, Justina will face an extensive healing process, both physically and emotionally. Her father, Lou Pelletier, is focusing on restoring his daughter to health, but also looks ahead to preventing this travesty from ever happening again, promising to sue Massachusetts for abducting his daughter.

“This battle has finally been won. The war will not be won until we stop this from happening to all children!” Lou Pelletier said in a text message reported by LifeNews.
