The House of Delegates in Maryland over the weekend voted to approve their version of a “bathroom bill,” sending the bill to the Senate. However, the bill landed in an unusual committee: the Senate rules committee. According to the Baltimore Sun, the move present a formidable procedural hurdle for the effort with less than two weeks left of session.

Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller said that his chamber is engaged with the budget now, and that “at this point I’d say the chances of passage of that bill are next to none.” He said the Senate has taken up the bill before, and that there are not enough votes in Committee to move it.
