WOBURN — Massachusetts Family Institute is excited to announce the launch of a ballot referendum initiative to IMG_3014 -smallrepeal the transgender bathroom, locker room and shower law.  Today, 21 courageous nd dedicated citizens filed a petition with the Secretary of State’s office to initiate the repeal process. MFI’s own Kris Mineau and Andrew Beckwith are among those signers and, together with a diverse group of community leaders, will be leading the effort to repeal the infamous Bathroom Bill, which is now law, and restore the rights to privacy and safety for our most vulnerable citizens.

Over the next 80 days, more than 32,000 signatures will need to be collected to put the transgender bathroom, locker room and shower law on the ballot in November 2018.  (The bill was passed too late to be placed on this November’s ballot.)  This will be a long process, not only of getting the repeal question on the ballot, but of continuing to raise awareness about the problems that laws like this are causing all over the country.

It is a precious right of a free people to engage our fellow citizens by a direct vote on such an important issue.  However, it is also a duty, as Americans and Bay Staters, to faithfully exercise the checks and balances, such as this ballot initiative, that the founding fathers gave us to counter the unjust and unwanted agenda of an out-of-touch Beacon Hill bureaucracy.

Massachusetts Family Institute is a non-profit research, education and public policy organization dedicated to strengthening the institution of the family and affirming the Judeo-Christian values upon which the family is based.
