If you know the name “Justina Pelletier,” then you remember the painful and confusing 15 months that the Pelletier family experienced when the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) ripped their youngest daughter from their hands. When her parents had a choice between two courses of treatment for their daughter’s medical condition, they decided to follow the advice of her physicians at Tufts Medical Center. But when DCF disagreed on the choice of treatment, they snatched her from her parents until legal and political intervention compelled the state to release her.
Tomorrow, June 24, at 1 p.m., the joint committee on Judiciary will hear testimony on Justina’s Law (HB1469), a law that would prevent the kind of medical kidnapping that happened to Justina Pelletier. Filed by Rep. Marc Lombardo, Justina’s Law needs pro-family advocates like YOU to convince the committee to move the bill to the floor.
No family should ever have to face such a situation again, and that is why we ask you to please come be a voice for parental rights in Massachusetts. Your testimonies and presence on Beacon Hill will speak volumes for the pro-family movement across the Commonwealth. Please join us at the State House in Judiciary Room A-2 to support Justina’s Law.
We also encourage you to sign the petition today to support Justina’s Bill and to forward it to your friends and family.
For our families,
