Friends of the Family,

As a combat veteran of the United State Air Force and someone who has lost close friends in battle, each news report about the death of a soldier, sailor or airman overseas affects me in a very personal way. When it was reported that a helicopter was downed in Afghanistan and 30 members of the U.S. military were killed, my heart ached and I said a prayer for the fallen and their families.

Our military men and women around the world “go to work” each day knowing that they could be making the ultimate sacrifice for their country and for the cause of freedom. Believe me, the military is not a job, it is a calling! Unfortunately, while many Americans are actively supporting the troops, politicians and special interest groups are using these brave men and women to forward their radical agendas.

We have shared extensively with you in these updates about the Obama Administration’s efforts to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT), as well as their efforts to sanction same-sex “marriage” and taxpayer-funded abortions on military bases. As part of the repeal of DADT, the military is now forcing its members to attend sensitivity training on homosexuality. Even our troops in combat are being pulled away from the battle fields to attend these blatant indoctrination sessions.

Now comes word that the Air Force has banned their time-honored course on the “Just War Theory” because the curriculum uses verses from the Bible. The “Just War Theory” was authored by St. Augustine in the 5th Century and uses the abiding standards of the word of God to help members of the military determine when the use of lethal force is morally legitimate.

The course has been taught at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California for more than two decades; that is until the liberal Military Religious Freedom Foundation filed a complaint, saying the course violated the “constitutional” separation of church and state. (NOTE: no such term exists in the Constitution!) Air Force officials suspended the class the same day as the complaint was filed, and it is currently under review.

David Smith, the spokesman for the Air Force’s Air Education and Training Command, said the main purpose of the class was to help missile launch officers understand that “what they are embarking on is very difficult and you have to have a certain amount of ethics about what you are doing to do that job.”

And to make matters even worse for members of the Armed Forces, the Obama Administration has chosen to use the military to help pay the price for their failed economic policies. The debt ceiling deal struck last week forces a steep $350 billion cut to the Defense budget if Congress can’t come up with another $1.2 trillion in reductions by November 23. Even President Obama’s own Defense Secretaries, Robert Gates and Leon Panetta, have referred to these cuts as “catastrophic” and “doomsday” for our troops.

In my opinion, this president and administration are doing more harm to the military in 3 years than any commander-in-chief has done in our nation’s history. Despite on-going conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya – the latter one that he started – President Obama is forcing social engineering, secularization and draconian budget cuts onto the brave men and women who have answered the call to serve. This is truly reprehensible and will have dire consequences in the years to come regarding the security of our nation.

Please join me in praying for our military, its leaders and the families of those servicemen and servicewomen who have lost their lives or experienced life-changing injuries. It is the least we can do.

For our families,
