Forcing same-sex “marriage” on the people of New York through backroom deals and without a statewide referendum just isn’t enough for Gov. Cuomo and the radical gay activists in the state. Now, they have filed suit against the federal government to overturn DOMA.

According to Reuters, “In court papers filed on Tuesday in U.S. federal court in Manhattan, New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) violates same-sex couples’ right to equal protection under the U.S. Constitution…Schneiderman wrote: ‘By discriminating among married couples based on sexual orientation and sex, DOMA deprives New York of the ability to extend true equality to all marriages in the State.”

If nothing else, this lawsuit proves that the activists pushing same-sex “marriage” will not simply stop when they win that battle. Their agenda is far-reaching and includes indoctrination of our children, a blurring of the gender lines, and the silencing of any and all critics. These are dangerous times we live in, and we must remain vigilant.

The National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is taking steps to put same-sex “marriage” before the voters in the Empire State, but the process is long and success is anything but guaranteed. NOM organized rallies in several cities (New York, Albany, Rochester and Buffalo) around the state to “Let the People Vote.” In addition, dozens of people gathered for an impromptu rally at the same time in Syracuse.

“The crowds of supporters were just amazing,” said Brian Brown, NOM’s president. “The crowd in Manhattan was so large the NYPD asked us to begin our march early so that we could relieve overcrowding at the gathering site. By the time we reached the United Nation’s plaza, nearly 10,000 people were present. This shows that a new era in the debate about same-sex marriage has begun. It’s not about what politicians think is best, it’s about demanding that the people be given their right to be heard.”
