Police in Charlton, the district attorney’s office and the FBI are investigating the copying and posting of pictures from student Facebook accounts on a website that includes child pornography. According to the Telegram & Gazette, pictures of seventeen Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical School were lifted from the social networking site and reproduced on the website.

“All of the girls were fully clothed in the photographs, but we are urging the utmost caution and appropriate privacy settings on the part of students with Facebook accounts,” said Lt. Carl G. Ekman of the Charlton Police Department, who is unsure what could be done to curtail the practice or shut down the website, which is located outside the United States.

The lieutenant said he was certain that the depiction of Bay Path students on this site is not an isolated occurrence, and that students throughout the region should be aware of the risk, and limit information accordingly.
